The Public Manager and The Bureaucrat, Inc.

Board of Editors Members of the Board of Editors are selected by The Public Manager’s Editor-in-Chief and are invited to serve in this capacity for three-year terms. The Board is consultative to the Editor-in-Chief, providing insights and recommendations that guide the editorial direction of The Public Manager, consistent with the journal’s overall vision and strategic direction.

Composition

Members of the Board of Editors are valued members of the public administration and public policy community, representing a broad spectrum of well-respected stakeholders, including current and retired professionals from all levels of government, young professionals, private sector professionals, students of public administration, and academicians.

 

Responsibilities

The Board of Editors plays a significant role in shaping the editorial direction, elevating the reputation of the journal, and continuously improving the overall content quality for The Public Manager. Their insights and recommendations are instrumental in ensuring that the journal remains abreast of the key issues facing public managers, increasing exposure and promotion of the journal, identifying new market areas for content coverage, and providing advice on publishing media alternatives. Members are asked to fulfill duties related to several core activities.

 

  • Planning: creating a long-range vision for the journal’s content; developing a comprehensive editorial calendar that is updated annually; advising on publication strategies and media.

  • Content: identifying topical and timely areas of interest and professional development to journal readers; identifying and referring potential contributors for journal articles; referring potential articles, reports, and research.

  • Outreach: developing and engaging in new ways to increase The Public Manager’s visibility and image to a variety of constituencies and markets; moderating or participating in occasional forums and seminars; speaking at educational sessions sponsored between The Public Manager and its affiliates.

  • Review: reviewing and commenting on articles and books as identified by the Editor-in-Chief.
The primary means of exchange is accomplished via electronic communication, with an annual face-to-face meeting planned.
